Lafourche Parish, La. – Tragedy struck Lafourche Parish on January 4th, 2024, when a single-vehicle accident claimed the lives of two teenagers and left another injured. Tristan Harman, 16, of Thibodaux, and Ashton Newkirk, 16, also of Thibodaux, died as a result of the crash, while a 14-year-old passenger was hospitalized with injures.
The accident occurred around 9 pm on Louisiana Highway 1. Sources indicate the crash occurred as the vehicle navigated a left curve at high speed.
While both Tristan and Ashton were properly restrained, the 14-year-old passenger was not. This highlights the critical importance of seat belt use for all occupants, regardless of age or seating position. Every trip, no matter how short, deserves the protection of a properly fastened seat belt.
Our hearts ache for the families of Tristan and Ashton during this unimaginable time. We extend our deepest condolences to their loved ones and offer prayers for the 14-year-old’s continued recovery.
