Lafayette, La. - Pedestrian Fatally Struck on Ambassador Caffery Parkway

The Incident

On February 8, 2024, a pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle on Ambassador Caffery Parkway in Lafayette, Louisiana. The accident occurred in the 3600 block of the parkway shortly after 8:40 pm.

Cause Under Investigation

The Lafayette Police Department is still investigating the circumstances leading up to the accident. Preliminary findings indicate that 62-year-old Wilton S. Miller of Alexandria was walking in the northbound inside lane of the parkway when he was struck by the vehicle.

Aftermath

Miller was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle was not found to be under the influence of alcohol but did receive citations for violating safety belt and window tint laws. The investigation is ongoing.
