The Incident
On Monday, February 12th, 2024, a head-on collision occurred on U.S. 61 near Interstate 310 in St. Charles Parish, Louisiana, shortly after 9:20 am. One person was tragically killed, and several others sustained injuries.
Cause Under Investigation
The accident involved a southbound Ford driven by 42-year-old Keith Coleman and a northbound Honda. According to initial reports, Coleman lost control of his vehicle, crossed the median, and struck the Honda head-on. The cause of the accident is still under investigation. Louisiana State Police collected toxicology samples as part of their ongoing inquiry.
Aftermath
- 29-year-old Kentrell Beard, a passenger in the Ford, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
- Coleman was ejected from his vehicle and sustained serious injuries, requiring hospitalization.
- The driver and a passenger in the Honda sustained minor injuries and received medical treatment.
