Tangipahoa Parish, La. – Drivers in Louisiana faced delays and detours this morning after a multi-vehicle accident on Interstate 55 southbound near the Manchac Wildlife Area. The crash closed all southbound lanes for several hours, raising concerns about potential injuries due to the location’s history of serious accidents.
The Manchac Wildlife Area stretch of I-55 is unfortunately known as one of Louisiana’s deadliest interstate pileup zones following October’s 168 car pileup. The combination of heavy traffic, distracting scenery, and limited visibility can create dangerous conditions, especially in inclement weather.
Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the accident and working to clear the scene. No official reports of injuries have been released at this time.
Stay safe on the roads, Louisiana.
