Natchitoches Parish, La. - Head-On Crash on LA Highway 486 Takes Life

The Incident

A head-on collision on Louisiana Highway 486 tragically claimed the life of 66-year-old Diane Thomas of Coushatta on March 6th, 2024, at approximately 1:00 pm. Louisiana State Police Troop E is investigating the accident.

Details

Ms. Thomas was driving a 2005 Honda CRV eastbound on LA Highway 486 when her vehicle crossed the center line and collided with a westbound 2021 Honda Civic.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.

Fatality and Injuries

Ms. Thomas, although wearing a seatbelt, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Honda Civic, who was also restrained, sustained moderate injuries and received medical attention at a local hospital.

Investigation

Routine toxicology samples were collected from both drivers. Distracted and inattentive driving are being investigated as possible contributing factors. Louisiana State Police urges all motorists to be alert and avoid distractions while driving.
