The Incident
On Tuesday, February 27th, 2024, at approximately 2:17 am, a multi-vehicle accident occurred on I-10 East near North Claiborne Avenue in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Details
- An initial single-vehicle crash involving a car colliding with a guardrail occurred, leaving the vehicle stopped in the center lane.
- Subsequently, three other vehicles collided with the stopped car.
- Tragically, one person was declared dead at the scene.
Aftermath
- The eastbound lanes of I-10 were closed for nearly three hours to allow for investigation and removal of vehicles.
- Traffic was diverted off the interstate at the Orleans Avenue exit.
- All lanes were reopened by 5:30 am.
Investigation
The New Orleans Police Department is investigating the cause of the accident. No further information regarding the victim or the cause of the crash has been released as of yet.
