St. Charles, La. – A chain reaction car accident on Thursday, January 25th, 2024, has left one man dead and three injured near Pier 90 on U.S. Highway 90. The Louisiana State Police is investigating the crash, which occurred shortly after nightfall.

41-year-old Tyler Scott of Hahnville was driving westbound on U.S. 90 in his 2005 Ford Ranger when he struck a large animal in the roadway. The impact caused him to lose control, veering across the median and into oncoming traffic.

Scott’s Ranger collided with an eastbound 2021 Audi Q8, sending the Audi across the median into the westbound lanes. The Audi then struck a 2018 GMC Sierra and a 2016 Toyota Camry. The Ranger, after the initial impact with the Audi, also collided with a 2020 Ford Explorer.

Tragically, Tyler Scott was pronounced dead at the scene. The drivers of the Audi and the Explorer sustained serious injuries and were transported to a local hospital. Thankfully, the driver of the Toyota Camry was unharmed.

The Louisiana State Police is investigating the cause of the accident, with the initial focus on the animal collision that triggered the chain reaction. They are also investigating potential contributing factors like speed and visibility.
